Chia seeds come from the plant Salvia Hispanica, which grows natively in South America. These tiny seeds are known for their abundance of Omega-3 fatty acids, making them a great alternative from fish oil for vegans. Omega fatty acids are known to improve your heart health and cholesterol levels, and can be helpful in losing weight. Chia seeds are also a complete protein, a great source of fiber, and contain antioxidants and micronutrients. And they swell and become gelatinous with the help of water, which makes you feel fuller!
How to enjoy:
• Mix 1 part chia to 3 parts water for an egg substitute
• To make Chia pudding
• In smoothies
• In oatmeal
