My name is Hailey Jefferies, Co-Founder of Prairie Fava. You might ask how a girl like myself became the bean lady. Well three years ago – I married my husband and partner Cale Jefferies. Not long after he decided to join his 5th generation family seed business. Leaving my medical device sales job behind to follow my farmer, I soon become passionate about health due to my mom’s cancer diagnoses and looking for alternative sources of protein for her… this is when I decided to leverage that passion for sales and health as Cale and I discovered the opportunity with fava beans – a great choice for famers and a great plant based ingredient to meet growing plant based demand.

We are proud to be part of the Yoso community because their company’s commitments aligns with my core values… choosing products to eat that still taste amazing, but are still healthy for you and your planet! Feel good inside and out!

We asked a few questions about her dairy-free lifestyle as part of this series, Living Dairy Free:

Why are you dairy-free?

I became dairy free a couple of years ago when I started struggling with acne breakouts. Since then my skin has improved and I have felt better overall!

Top five favourite dairy-free products?

Yoso – Vanilla

Yoso – Chocolate

Culcherd Cheese – Herb and Garlic

Spread em Kitchen – Chives and Garlic

Culcherd – Butterless Butter

Favourite local spot to eat that accommodates dairy-free?

Cocoabeans Bake Shop & Café Winnipeg, MB

Favourite place to shop for groceries?

In Manitoba we don’t have a lot of options but it is great to see that my local Sobeys carries Yoso and other great Canadian health food companies products! So I would have to say Sobeys or our local COOP as they also support local.
