Hi, I’m Amera Musleh! After completing my HBA in English, Political Science and Phillosophy at the university of Toronto, I experienced adrenal fatigue. At this point, I increased my research in nutrition and holistic health and found within it my lifelong passion. That’s when I made the decision to pursue my career as a certified holistic nutritionist (CNP) at the Institute of Holistic Nutrition where I graduated at top of the class with an alumni status. During my co-op experienced I worked at a Medical clinic with the lead MD and Naturopath. After graduating I completed an accredited online certification for Culinary Child Nutrition from Stanford University.  I have a passion for hormone health, pre/postnatal health care and helping families make healthy and informative food choices. I am dedicated to helping others take control of their lives by implementing nutritional wellness, and holistic lifestyle strategies.

We asked a few questions about her dairy-free lifestyle as part of this series, Living Dairy Free:

Why are you dairy-free?

I practice a dairy conscious diet. This means I choose to consume a variety of non dairy plant based choices. I’m a strong believer in the practice of food variety. This practice exposes the body to a wider range of nutrients and phytonutrients (plant chemicals)from various plant sources. Modern scientific studies have illustrated that increasing plant based foods not only benefits cardiovascular health, supports metabolism and support the immune, but also benefits our gut microbiome.

Favourite dairy-free products?

  2. Yoso vanilla flavoured yogurts both soy and coconut
  3. Ripples Food Pea milk
  4. Nature’s Charm evaporated coconut milk
  5. Aroy-D coconut milk

Favourite local spot to eat that accommodates dairy-free?

Starbucks. I enjoy the coconut matcha lattes, which are excellent.

The Real Canadian Super Store. They carry several dairy free products including Yoso !
