My name is Lisa Manzo and I am a Registered Holistic Nutritionist (R.H.N), Personal Trainer (PTS), Author of the book Healthy is Sexy, Wellness Blogger and the Founder of PurEnergy Wellness Lofts in Toronto.  Apart from my business titles, I am a wife and a new mom.  All of these titles are wonderful, but serve a specific purpose: they give me the ability to fulfill a dream.  My mission statement – if you will – is to bring each and every person I encounter a positive and lasting experience.  I’m motivated and passionate about everything I do; helping others to live a healthy and happy life is my life mission.

I believe that the key to a happy, healthy, holistic life is education and I am extremely excited to be part of a community that thrives on helping one another achieve longevity, balance and happiness.  Yoso is a brand I truly identify with and have a passion for as well as support as a consumer.

We asked a few questions about her dairy-free lifestyle as part of this series, Living Dairy Free:

Why are you dairy-free?

I grew up drinking milk and eating cheese never connecting dairy as the culprit to my health concerns (bloating, acne, inflammation) and going dairy-free has become the solution to me feeling (and looking!!) better.  As an R.H.N I encourage my clients to trial dairy-free living to truly experience the transformative powers of ditching dairy.

Top five dairy-free products

  1. Yoso coconut yogurt
  2. Enjoy Life Foods boomCHOCOboom dairy-free chocolate
  3. Coconut Bliss coconut icecream
  4. Nutiva Coconut Manna (coconut butter)
  5. Daiya Foods dairy-free Cheese

Favourite local spot to eat that accommodates dairy-free

Thirve Organic Kitchen & Cafe – this local spot is a Nutritionists dream offering many clean food options that are dairy-free, gluten-free and absolutely yummy!

Favourite place to shop for groceries

I truly enjoy the experience of picking up my weekly groceries at local Farmer’s Markets around the city.  The produce is in-season, is fresh and allows city dwellers, like myself, to connect with local growers.
