My name is Teri-Ann Carty. I am a passionate yoga teacher from Toronto, Canada. I’ve been vegan for approximately 2 years but have been meat, dairy, and gluten free for close to 5. My passion for food photography started with Instagram snapping my post yoga green smoothies and other vegan treats. Getting healthy was a priority for me 5 years ago when I gave up alcohol and now feel it is my responsibility to share my story through teaching yoga and spreading the word on healthy, clean and nutritious eating.

We asked a few questions about her dairy-free lifestyle as part of this series, Living Dairy Free:

Why are you dairy-free?

I am dairy free mostly for health reasons. I ate dairy my whole life but the more I read about it the more I realized that it’s really not healthy for you. The dairy industry generally mistreats the animals. The whole process really just makes me sad and my body feels so much better without it!!

Top five favourite dairy-free products?

Yoso is tops for sure. My fave is the almond cashew and coconut yogurts. I love So Delicious ice cream, Earth Balance, Coconut Bliss and Pacific when I’m in a pinch. I make all my own milks now because nobody can come close to the way my milks taste!

Favourite local spot to eat that accommodates dairy-free?

This one is easy! I have too many to count. My top 3 in Toronto are Fresh, Kupfert and Kim and Live Organic.

Favourite place to shop for groceries?

I’m really lucky in Toronto. We have great outdoor markets in the summer but I buy most of my groceries at a local stand in Kensington market, Herbs and Nutrition, Noah’s and my local Metro.

I’m excited to try all the Yoso products and create beautiful photos with them.
